It’s your classic tale of thieves meet thieves: A motley crew of robbers and misfits, brought together by a calm, bespectacled criminal mastermind, target the United Korea Mint and ultimately hole up inside with hostages. With both North and South Korean authorities posted outside, the robbers must maintain order among the hostages and, more importantly, themselves. Directed by Kim Hong-sun, Money Heist: Korea — Joint Economic Area is a suspenseful crime thriller filled with hidden motives and conflicted alliances. The series depicts a near future where North and South Korea have formally made peace. Unfrosted might not be fully accurate in its portrayal of the race to create the first toaster pastry, but it does capture an essential truth: The more specific nostalgia is, the more universal its appeal. Which is why Unfrosted’s director, co-writer, and star Jerry Seinfeld’s personal passion for the Pop-Tart can be seen through the lens of a subversive yet somehow sweet look back at the ’60s, a time when kids roamed free (and right into dumpsters) and Shakespearean actors moonlighted as cereal mascots.
About that — the mascot in question is Tony the Tiger, and the real-life actor who voiced him was named Thurl Ravenscroft. And while, no, he was not a thespian who specialized in the Bard’s work, that’s the spin the Hugh Grant has put on the character in Unfrosted, to great effect. More than three years after Game of Thrones came to a divisive end, HBO returned to the land of Westeros with House of the Dragon, a Targaryen-centric prequel series that debuted on August 21, 2022. Fans weren’t meant to wait this long for a Game of Thrones spinoff — or “successor show,” as author George R. R. Martin prefers to call it — but HBO didn’t have the easiest time turning its smash hit into a franchise. Case in point: The pilot for another prequel series, the Naomi Watts-led project detailed below, cost $30 million to film, according to the James Andrew Miller book Tinderbox: HBO’s Ruthless Pursuit of New Frontiers (via Entertainment Weekly). The next spinoff in development was a Jon Snow sequel series that would see Kit Harington return to his most famous role. Harington himself has said it’s been shelved, but that’s not the only tale of Westeros in development.

If you are going to be a show about firefighters produced by the Shondaland banner, then you better be hot. Station 19 has delivered excellent drama, paid tribute to first responders, and given fans some extremely sexy scenes worthy of its production home. However, members of the Station 19 crew teased that fans haven’t actually seen the steamiest moment of the show yet. “We have one in Episode 7 coming up actually at the end of the episode, watch out for it. The opening frame of A Man in Full shows the body of Atlanta businessman Charlie Croker (Jeff Daniels) lying lifeless on the floor. But even in death, he has a flair for confrontation: In voice-over, he asks a question of the viewer: “When you die, will people notice?”
Charlie’s brashness remains on full display as the story flashes back to 10 days prior, at his 60th birthday party. He confidently — arrogantly — makes the rounds, asking his ex-wife’s best friend Joyce (Lucy Liu) if she’s had cosmetic work done and forcefully greeting a banker, Raymond Peepgrass (Tom Pelphrey), with a hand tightly (and uncomfortably) clasped around the back of his collar — a moment that foreshadows the final scene, where Charlie’s hand once again finds its way around Raymond’s neck. But how exactly does Charlie’s hubris lead to his downfall? It’s time to dive into the...

“We’ve all failed in our lives, but have you ever failed so bad, you bring back Jon Stewart?” Minhaj mused yesterday at the Netflix is a Joke comedy festival.
“I saved a dying institution,” Minhaj added. “You’re welcome.”
For those not following along, after an extended on-air audition process, Comedy Central had reportedly chosen Minhaj to be Trevor Noah’s successor at The Daily Show last summer and planned to make the announcement at the conclusion of the Writers Strike.
Before that could happen, The New Yorker published a widely-shared article that accused Minhaj of embellishing his confessional-style standup material with exaggerations and falsehoods. Although Minhaj later responded with his side of the story and a fact-check of the New Yorker’s fact-check, by then Comedy Central had reportedly backed away from Minhaj amid the controversy.
The Daily Show never did lock down a permanent host.

NBC has renewed Night Court for a third season. The announcement comes a little over one month after the Night Court Season 2 finale aired on Tuesday, March 26. The episode saw original cast member Marsha Warfield return for a third time as Judge Abby Stone (Melissa Rauch) let the former bailiff host her wedding in the courtroom. The episode also guest starred John Larroquette‘s former co-star on The John Larroquette Show, Gigi Rice, as the sister of Og character Christine Sullivan, Katie. Christine was played by the late Markie Post. Her reference in the Season 2 finale marked the first time the character got a tribute in the reboot. In the new Night Court, the eternally optimistic Abby Stone follows in the footsteps of her revered late father, Judge Harry Stone (the late Harry Anderson), as she takes on the challenge of overseeing the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment court.

“Hacks” opened its first episode of its first season with a bravura tracking shot that followed its stand-up star Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) from door to casino floor to backstage to stage of the Palmetto Casino. The opening shot of Season 3 echoes that original — but with several twists.
The biggest one is the reveal that the figure we’ve been following from behind, wearing Deborah’s sequined jacket from the pilot episode, hair done up in the exact same way, is actually a lookalike. She’s one among many Deborah Vance-ettes, so to speak, at the launch of slot machines themed in the actual comedienne’s honor.
It’s a strong opening statement from the show’s co-creators Jen Statsky, Lucia Aniello, and Paul W. Downs, one that tells us exactly the ride we’re going to be on in Season 3 of the Max series. “Hacks” isn’t just mining comedy bits.

The interview in question took place on January 30, 2018, following the State of the Union. In it, Kimmel brought up a letter Daniels had allegedly signed denying she had an affair with Trump, pressing Daniels on whether the signature was authentic.
