Some breaking news from Westeros: The Game of Thrones prequel series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has added a major talent from Black Mirror to serve as its debut season’s lead director, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Owen Harris has boarded the HBO drama as an executive producer and will also direct the first three episodes, establishing the directorial vision for the series. Harris is best known for helming two of Black Mirror‘s finest episodes — “Be Right Back” and the widely acclaimed “San Junipero.”
In addition, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms‘ episode count has now been revealed: The first season will be six episodes, making for a tighter opener than the 10-episode first seasons of Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon. The run time seems appropriate given Knight is an adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s 160-page novella The Hedge Knight rather than one of his 900-page epic novels.

Epper died Sunday night of natural causes at her home in Simi Valley, her family told The Hollywood Reporter.
Just one member of a dynasty of stunt performers that Steven Spielberg dubbed the “Flying Wallendas of Film” — starting with her father, John Epper, there have been four generations of Eppers in show business since the 1930s — she worked on 150-plus films and TV shows during an astounding 70-year career.
In 2007, Epper received the first lifetime achievement honor given to a woman at the World Taurus Awards and ranks among the greatest stuntwomen of all time.

Bridgerton Season 3 is bringing Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin’s (Luke Newton) love story to life from Julia Quinn’s Romancing Mister Bridgerton. However, a key character from Polin’s book is not featured in the Netflix show at all: Felicity Featherington. Another Featherington sister?! Yes, there’s another one in the book series! Felicity is closest to Penelope within the Featherington family and the youngest sibling. She’s also a dear friend to Hyacinth Bridgerton. In the Netflix series, Penelope only has two siblings, Prudence (Bessie Carter) and Philippa (Harriet Cains). Showrunner Jess Brownell explains Felicity’s absence in the show to TV Insider. “I think [that] was a smart decision. I think that was a decision made by Chris Van Dusen and Shonda [Rhimes] early on in the pilot,” Brownell says. “It just gets hard to characterize three siblings, especially when the Featheringtons are in a secondary position. John Mulaney is attempting to disrupt the late-night formula with Everybody’s in L.A., a fascinatingly chaotic fever dream of a live series that shows you what happens when you give an innovative comedian at the top of his game the chance to experiment with the television medium. But all anyone wants to talk about is Mulaney’s hair.
Over on X (formerly Twitter), the chatter surrounding Mulaney’s new center-parted longer ‘do is near-deafening. “Beautiful” and “orgasmic” are just two of the ways his locks have been described, while others have likened the comedian to everyone from Clark Kent to Jason Bateman.
But where others might see a distraction, Netflix is seeing opportunity. The streamer is sticking to the old adage that any publicity is good publicity by leaning into the internet’s apparent fascination with Mulaney’s mane in a valiant effort to help drive viewers to his very limited series.

Nikki Glaser was one of the highlights of Netflix’s Tom Brady roast, eviscerating the NFL superstar with jokes about his divorce from Gisele Bündchen and her reported new romance with Jiu-Jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente. But Glaser didn’t get to deliver every punchline she intended to during the live comedy event. During a post-roast interview on “The Howard Stern Show,” Glaser rattled off some of the Brady jokes she cut from her set.

The first season of “Loki” was the most popular of all the Marvel series to premiere on Disney+, and for good reason: The imaginative world of the Time Variance Authority (Tva) and the core relationships established within it — most notably the warm and hilarious partnership between Tom Hiddleston’s title character and Tva functionary Mobius M. Mobius (Owen Wilson) — yielded one of the liveliest and most involving Marvel screen stories since the original “Iron Man.” But as impressive as Season 1 was, it was only a warm-up for the more ambitious, suspenseful, and poignant Season 2, in which Loki finally fulfills a destiny set up for him 13 years ago in the movie “Thor” — though in a way that neither he nor the audience could possibly have predicted.
The trajectory of Loki’s character from “Thor” to “Loki” Season 2 is about as complex a character arc as one can imagine, ranging from pure...

She was 72. “Susan died peacefully on May 2 surrounded by loved ones,” according to Melissa Berthier, a publicist for the family. No cause of death was provided. Best known for her role in the iconic Grease movie musical, Buckner played the lovable part of Patty Simcox, one of Sandy’s first friends at her new school, Rydell. Sandy, played Olivia Newton John, is taken by the effervescent cheerleader who in turn convinces her to join the cheer team. NCIS: Hawai’i left off on quite the cliffhanger in what was meant to just be the Season 3 finale. Instead, it ended up being the series finale, and this comes after a shortened season that set up a few things that could have easily been explored going forward. For instance, a tease about team leader Jane Tennant’s (Vanessa Lachey) and Lucy’s (Yasmine Al-Bustami) and Kate’s (Tori Anderson) conversation about a wedding set up plenty for the agents off the clock. And the final scene involving Jane could have led to anything for the team to deal with. Below, we take a look at the three major questions that might not ever be answered because NCIS: Hawai’i was canceled. What Brings Maggie Back? In the last scene of the series, Jane arrives home to find her former mentor-turned-fugitive, Maggie (Julie White), waiting. She told Jane her daughter was...

This case hits close to home for Oa, who served in the U.S. Army and struggles to open up to Gemma about his past in Afghanistan. Case in point: our clip. “I heard you talking on the phone in the bathroom,” Gemma tells Oa. “Who’s Anna? You seem to care a lot about her.” He does share that she’s the widow of a guy he served with in Afghanistan, but that’s it.

It’s almost time for the 68th annual Eurovision Song Contest to bring together the world’s biggest acts for an epic music spectacular. The new permanent slogan for the event is “United by Music.” The theme for this year’s event is “The Eurovision Lights,” which the organization defines as, “a concept based on simple linear gradients, inspired by the vertical lines that permeate both the Northern lights and sound equalizers.” The contest will take place across three days at Malmö Arena. On May 7 and 9, two semi-finals will take place, and the grand final will follow on Saturday, May 11, starting at 21:00 Central European Summer Time. Katt Williams, never afraid of being bold, declared maybe his boldest mission yet in Katt Williams: Woke Foke. “I don’t just tell Black secrets,” he warned the crowd at one point during his new Netflix comedy special, which streamed live on May 4 as part of Netflix is a Joke Fest. “I tell white secrets, too. ’Cause we’re all family.”
He meant it. The King of Underground Comedy shared his sharp, pointed observations and lessons in his trademark rapid-fire style. Arriving on stage at the YouTube Theater in Inglewood, California, wearing a custom Woke Foke medallion necklace, he went after just about everyone and everything: why being “woke” itself is hardly bad, (toxic) masculinity, the “Illuminati,” Trump, Biden, Ron DeSantis, Nick Cannon, Jamie Foxx, Oprah, Ozempic — naming names and (literally) showing pictures, at least when he didn’t look desperate to catch a breath between all the curveball punchlines.

True to his earlier word, Disney CEO Bob Iger is cutting back on all things Marvel, reducing the number of TV series and movies to a mere non-Hulk-sized handful.
The news comes as part of Disney's quarterly earnings call, which Variety covered on Tuesday. Iger told reporters that the company's path forward will focus on quality over quantity, a course correction from the last several years of pumping out stories even tangentially related to the Avengers.
“We’re slowly going to decrease volume and go to probably about two TV series a year instead of what had become four and reduce our film output from maybe four a year to two, or a maximum of three," Iger said.

Disney’s adjusted earnings per share for the March quarter beat Wall Street forecasts — but the company’s stock price stumbled amid concerning signs for the Mouse House.
Shares of Disney were down 10.4%, to $104.41 per share, as of noon Et on Tuesday. The pullback comes after the stock was up 29% year to date as of Monday.
While Disney’s theme parks business drove top- and bottom-line growth for the first three months of 2024 — with revenue growth of 10% and segment operating income up 12% — the company said the June quarter’s segment operating income is expected to come in roughly comparable to the prior year,...

Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh has been tapped to lead Prime Video’s upcoming Blade Runner 2049 sequel series, our sister site Variety reports, marking the first piece of casting news about the follow-up since it was first confirmed more than a year ago.
The sci-fi franchise, which began with 1982’s Ridley Scott-directed Blade Runner, is set in a dystopian Los Angeles, where artificial humans (aka “replicants”) are built to work for a major corporation in space. But where there is oppression, there will always be advanced replicants willing to fight their way to freedom.

In “Night Under the Stars,” the three have a night out at the casino and adopt new personas for the occasion—or rather, some of them do, at least. Cass is doing well, but not when it comes to maintaining her persona. Yes, she has a daughter, she says. “Do you have a problem with that?” she asks the casino worker. “Just because Britt parties hearty, honey, doesn’t mean that she can’t have her own baby girls. I mean, I have so many baby girls. In fact, I can’t even keep track. I’ve got a baby girl in every port.” Hana tells her, “I...

No character truly stays gone forever in soap operas, and that might well be the case for the infamous Young and the Restless villain Patty Williams, who fans think could be returning to Genoa City. As reported by Soaps.com, long-time viewers who watched Monday’s (May 6) episode will have heard a reference that hinted at Patty’s potential return. It happened while Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) discussed the recent trauma their daughter Summer (Allison Lanier) had suffered at the hands of Jordan (Colleen Zenk), which reminded them of another shocking incident from their past. The couple referred to a “madwoman’s kiss,” which was a callback to 2009 when Paul Williams’ (Doug Davidson) sister, Patty, purposefully ate peanut butter and then kissed Summer on the lips, sending her into anaphylactic shock. She then convinced people Phyllis was the one responsible in hopes of recapturing Nick’s attention.
